Members of the Redaction Committee of the Synod’s Continental Stage

Giacomo Costa, sj

Consultor of the General Secretariat of the Synod and Head of the Task Force for the Preparation of the Document for the Continental Stage

Born in Genoa in 1967, he has been in the Society of Jesus since 1992. He graduated in DAMS – Music, studied philosophy and theology and has a master’s degree in Political and Moral Sociology at the Ecole d’Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.

From 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the Pedro Arrupe Institute in Palermo. Since 2005 in the review Social Updates, of which he has been editor-in-chief from 2007 to 2010 and director since 2010. President of the San Fedele Cultural Foundation of Milan since 2008, vice president of the Carlo Maria Martini Foundation since 2013, Don Giacomo Costa was also Special Secretary of the Synod 2018 on “Young people, faith and vocational discernment”.

Clara Antonia Czizar

Professor of Pastoral Theology at the University of Linz and Director of the Research Center for Ecumenical Studies and Interreligious Dialogue at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj/Romania.

She graduated in Catholic and German theology at the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca (Romania), in 2006 she obtained a master’s degree in pastoral psychology at the same university.

From 2005 to 2009 she was in charge of the Youth Office of the Diocese of Satu Mare in Romania, where she also held the position of consultant for pastoral planning at the Ordinariate.

From 2010 to 2014 you carried out research for pastoral qualification at the University of Vienna (Austria). From 2017 to 2021 he was theological consultant of the diocesan synod of Zrenjanin (Serbia).

From 2018 to 2022 she taught Pastoral Theology at the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca, and in those years she was also the personal theological consultant of the Bishop of Zrenjanin (Serbia), Ladislav Nemet SVD, maintaining her position when the latter is was transferred as Archbishop of Belgrade in 2002.

You have been teaching Pastoral Theology at the Catholic University of Linza since 2019.

Arnaud Join Lambert

Professor of Practical Theology and Liturgy, Catholic University of Louvain

He studied theology at the University of Trier, at the Catholic Institute of Paris and in Fribourg. He received his doctorate in theology from the University of Freiburg in 2001, and his habilitation in theology in 2005.

His current field of research is synodality, particularly in the context of diocesan synods.

He was president of the International Society of Practical Theology 3 from 2014 to 2016. he was president of the Archive of the Catholic World (ARCA) from 2015 to 2020. Since 2019 he has been vice president of the International Academy of Religious Sciences.

He is an expert of the Methodological Commission for the Synod on synodality (2021-2023).

Andrea Gagliarducci

Vatican scholar and essayist

Andrea Gagliarducci works for the EWTN group as Vatican Analyst for the Catholic News Agency and Vatican correspondent for ACI Stampa. He has collaborated with the newspapers La Sicilia, Il Tempo and Il Fatto Quotidiano and was one of the authors of the online religious information portal korazym.org. He manages the English-language blog www.mondayvatican.com and the Italian-language VaticanReporting. He is a consultant to the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences.

Among his publications, “Cristo Speranza dell’Europa” (Città Nuova, 2021) on the history of the Council of European Episcopal Conferences, “Linguaggi Pontifici” (Editoriale Romani, 2022) with Monsignor Stefano Sanchirico on the Vatican ceremonial.

Rev. Miroslaw Tykfer

Professor, columnist

Born in 1976 – priest of the archdiocese of Poznań, doctor of fundamental theology, parish priest of S. Jana XXIII in Komorniki and member of the Community of Sant’Egidio.

Father Mirosław Tykfer completed postgraduate studies in religious pedagogy at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome and doctoral studies in fundamental theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

In 2014-2021 he was editor-in-chief of Przewodnik Katolick magazine.

Since January 2022 he has been a columnist for the column “In Francesco’s team” of the monthly “On the road”.

Myriam Wijlens

Theologian, professor of Canon Law at the University of Erfurt, consultor of the General Secretariat of the Synod

After licentiate in theology at the Catholic University of Nijmegen, she obtained a doctorate in canon law at St. Paul’s University in Ottawa, and completed her habilitation in canon law at the University of Münster in Germany.

From 2001 to 2003 she was a visiting professor at the Catholic University in America, and from 2004 to 2006 she held the same position at the University of Ottawa. From 1999 to 2005 she was an assistant professor at the University of Tilburg.

Since 2005, you have been a professor of canon law at the University of Erfurt. She has been involved in clergy sexual abuse response since 1987, and has been involved in drafting guidelines and responding to abuse allegations in the Netherlands since 1994. Since 2002, she has been a consultant to the Church of Germany.

Since 2008, he has been a delegate of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity at the Faith and Order Commission at the World Council of Churches. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors.
